Bill Harper

Bill J. Harper, AIFD, AAF, is one of the floral industry’s most accomplished designers, educators, consultants, and lecturers. His love and appreciation of nature was cultivated on his family’s farm in rural Missouri, where he lives to this day.

Bill’s career has placed him in many roles, including floral artist and visual merchandiser. His designs have been featured in magazines and books, both nationally and internationally, over the past three decades. He is one of six American designers featured in the millennium edition of World Flower Artist 2 [2000], and he has been a frequent contributor to Florists’ Review magazine for more than 25 years.

As a teacher, Bill has traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe, and Asia conducting schools, workshops, and exhibitions. As a product-development consultant, he has worked in China making significant contributions to the innovation of permanent botanicals, floral décor, and accessories.

Bill was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers [AIFD] in 1977. Since then, he has served the organization in many ways, including as national president [1991-1992], membership chair [1984-1988], and National Symposium co-chair [1984, 2003, 2009]. In 1996, Bill was presented the Distinguished Service Award to AIFD and honored as a fellow of the organization. Bill is also a member of the American Academy of Floriculture [AAF].

Bill’s extensive experience and design acumen have been enhanced by his love of art and horticulture.  Tirelessly inquisitive, Bill sees ordinary objects in the most extraordinary ways. Innovation is his trademark.
